The Life and Death of Indian Artist M.F. Husain

Maqbul Fida Husain, one of Indiaís greatest modern artists, died in London on June 9 at the age of 95. Despite a celebrated career during which he earned three prestigious government awards, his work drew the ire of Hindu nationalists who objected to Husainís depictions of Hindu goddesses. He spent the last years of his life in self-imposed exile.
